Did you right click on the guage and made sure the 2 boxes are checked? They will stay ? marks until the engine is started. Larry
Both boxes are checked and I started the engine and info from the last trip was entered into distance fuel time economy, but no grar positions Bill Day
If you have the old 2-digit shifter that shows the gear selected AND the gear attained, then you won't get that data on the VMS. Allison simply did not program those trannies to share that data.
I have a 2001 Dynasty with the "old style"indicator. That is both the gear selected and the current gear show on the tranny selector. When I first hooked up my VMSpc all i got was ?? for tranny info on the VMCpc. Recently had the tranny serviced for a check light and they found whatever electronics connects the tranny for info was not working. Now the VMCpc shows gearing info despite the fact it is still the old style tranny indicator. Who can figure this out???? Now I am wondering if the VMCpc should be showing a lower gear when my newly repaired engine(compression) brake is on?...Cause it isn't!!!!
There are lots of mysteries with your rig. The last one - the brake - is a matter of configuration. Your Gear Selected should be reduced when you hit the brake. The Gear Attained might not because the RPMs are often too high to downshift immediately.
