JIB TM 501

I understand that there is an upgrade USB unit that will allow the lost functions for the newer Allison tranny that shows Gears, temp etc as well as USB connectivity vs seriel port. Can you enlighten me on this upgrade unit? I have the VMSpc 2003 vintage, 6 wire plug for the Spartan.
thx
Alan

There is. But there is a hitch.

The new JIB supports USB, and it connects to the new Allison transmissions. We've been quiet about it as we've ramped up our production - we didn't want to unleash a flood of orders before we were ready.

In your case I think there may be another hitch. If you have a 6-pin connector, that means the Allison data wires haven't been brought up to the dash. I don't know why that would be.

New JIB

Alan

Martin,
My mistake...I have a four pin connector. Would I be good to go? the unit is an 07 Tiffin with Spartan , ISL400 and the Allison 3000.
thx
Alan

Jib TM501

Martin, I may be interested in the new JIB, too. I have an Allison 1000 transmission and have been hoping for a way to see what is happening with it, particularly if codes are being set. Am I still out of luck? My hookup is the Freightliner round diagnostic plug.

I'd love to eliminate the USB adpater but that hasn't been as much of a problem as before since I replaced the adapter with another manufacturer's model.

Re:Jib TM501

The Allison 2000 Series Transmissions are non J1708/J1587 and J1939 Electronic. To the best of my knowledge, the Allison 1000 Series are also non J1708/J1587 and J1939 Electronic as well.

Meaning it most likely won't work.

Martin, I am making yet

Martin,
I am making yet another clarification to my original post...I have a 9 pin plug of which 4 pins appear to have contacts for my current VMSpc. Am I a candidate for the new upgraded usb unit and its improved functions for the tranny?
thx
Alan

Re:Martin, I am making yet

The 9-Pin plug for your VMSpc has 4 Terminals for the 4 wires that go to your VMSpc JIB, but the 9-Pin Plug on your Coach has 7 Terminals??

With the ISL 400 and the Allison 3000, you will get both Engine and Transmission data with the new JIB.

Mark, Sorry I got off on

Mark,
Sorry I got off on the wrong foot with my post and further muddied the issue with my corrections. I do have a 9 pin Spartan plug and the current JIB uses 4 wires. Sooo...I should be a candidate for the exchange to go on my 07 Tiffin Bus with the ISL 400/Allison 3000 unit. Thank you for the info and confirmation.

Right.

The new JIB will give you the full transmission support.

How many wires used

Does the new JIB use the same JIB connector as the serial one with just four pins used?

Jim

If you have a six-pin plug . . .

. . . it uses four wires. If you have a nine-pin, it uses up to six wires. (Not all nine-pin plugs have all six wires.)

Jib TM501

When will the new Jib available? What is the upgrade path for a JR 500 J 1708 Jib purchased in June?

Now.

The new JIB is available right now. We have a "trade-in" program - take a look at the main page on this site. Basically, it's $229.00 for the upgrade.

Art, (did not know how else to contact you)

Finally got time to test out the fixed TM-501 USB JIB…
Seems to be working… But when I get an error such as Over Temp, I also get a;
ENG SID Controller #1 Frequency Error…

Since this error is coming from the Engine Controller, could it be referring to an error when communicating with the TM-501 because it only seems to occur when the error pops up? See attached.

Any ideas?
