Does Transmission connector = Engine connector ?

I have an engine diagnostic connector back in the engine compartment of my 04 HR Neptune. There is also a large round connector under the dash, but it is marked Transmission. Are these connectors both usable for the Junction box ? Obviously the one in the dash should be easier to use connecting to the computer. My opinion is that if it is a communication bus, both the engine and transmission information should be available on both connectors, but admittedly, I am new to all of this.

Thanks in advance

Your opinion is well justified. However, to be sure, count the number of pins actually used in the connector. In the six-pin version, four should be in use. In the nine-pin version, seven pins should be in use.
