VMS 200 EL

VMS 200 - DDEC II Setup

I have a VM S200 with a Detroit Diesel 8v92 DDEC II. How do I set up my VMS 200 to read PID 244 so that the trip functions work? I can scan the PID using the VMS 200 and the mileage shown agrees with what I can get with a ProLink. Thanks Steve

255 house comm failure

I continue to receive the 255 house comm failure error on the VMS and also a red indicator on the TMS. Both are occur at the same time and the system error comes and goes away at different times and for different lenghts of time. The VMS is monitoring a 2006 County Coach Magna 630.

Are You going to be represented at the Feburary Rally (FMCA) in Florida?

I need a tech to figure why my road watch doesn't read. all connections appear clean ans secure.

Generator start/stop from VMS 200

All of a sudden, I can no longer start my generator by going to the "info" screen of the VMS 200, highlighting "start" on the generator program and pressing the rotary switch. I can still stop the generator from this screen, but I have to go back into the bedroom now to start it up. This is very inconvenient when going down the road and needing the house a/c units on. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

David Jarrett

Cat Oil Pressure Reading

We have an 02' Cat C12 425HP. Occationally the Engine Warning Light flickers on and off at Idle. The light will go away as soon as RPM in increased. The dash Oil Pressure Gauge reads just under 20#'s at idle. Our main question is at above 1000 RPM and at operating temperature the Oil Pressure on the VMS 200 EL reads 99.4 kPa [about 15#'s]. The Dash Oil Pressure Gauge reads 35+ pounds. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

VMS 200 EL missing values

When I'm operating in the Drive Screen, he two large numbers at the top center that indicate the Gear Selected and Gear Attained by the transmission do not show.
The Transmission Mode, Operating Error, and Torque Converter Status also don't show.
Critical values like Engine Oil Temp, Transmission Oil Temp, Air Inlet Temp, and Fuel Temp display zero.
What should I do or where should I look?

2006 Country Coach

I currently have a VMS 200 EL that I purchased around 2000 on my '98 Newmar Dutchstar, 300 Cat. I have just bought an '06 Country Coach Inspire, 400 Cat. Can I use this unit on the new coach? Will I need to update the unit, buy a new cable?

Version 4 Software Ready for the VMS 200 EL.

Did you see this announcement? You would think that after seven years with the VMS 200 we'd be out of ideas. But then I take another trip in my coach and this is what happens. I had 8000 miles to plan this particular update, and I think it's our best ever.

Got a VMS 200? New Version 4 Software Ready!

We may not be building new VMS 200's, but we haven't forgotten our thousands of customers that are driving around with our all-time best seller. In fact, we have just released a new software version that is the biggest upgrade in that product in several years.

Version 4 adds two major new features, both born out of my personal experiences as an RVer. It also adds a few lesser, but still important, features, like making the MPG reading bigger on all the trip screens.

Although I absolutely love the "Rolling MPG" feature of all the VMS models, I recently realized that it is missing something. The Rolling MPG is perfect for fine-tuning your driving to get the best fuel economy, but it doesn't give you a very good idea of the "bigger picture". So I added "Recent MPG" - the MPG as experienced over roughly the last 10+ minutes. It gives a better idea of how the winds and hills are going to hit your pocketbook at the next fuel stop. Both are available as gauges for your Drive screen and your Scan screen.

Another idea came to me as I was crossing the country on a month-long trip. I clear my Main trip only at the beginning of a totally new expedition, or at each end of a cross-country jaunt. I clear my Aux trip screen when I refuel, so that's my fuel gauge. But on that long trip, every day I found myself curious about just how well I was doing that particular day. So I invented the "Daily Data" screen. It's a trip odometer that clears itself automatically each morning so you can easily see how you are doing each day. It only clears once each day, so when you stop for lunch it doesn't forget your morning's achievements.

If you like these features as much as I do, then check in with us at the next rally and we'll update your unit for just 95 bucks. If you can't get to a rally, you can send your unit in to us and we'll update it in the lab for the same price.
